Our team at the Food Bank is getting geared up for a busy fall season full of exciting events.

First up on our list of Signature Events is CANstruction.

CANstruction is a national hunger awareness event in more than 100 cities across the United States and Canada. In Austin, nine teams, led by local architects, engineers and builders will have just eight hours to build their larger than life sculptures out of canned goods at Barton Creek Square Mall on Saturday, November 10. Visitors can donate money or drop off a non-perishable food item while they marvel at the structures. At the end of the build, you’ll have a choice to vote for your favorite.  While some teams will go home with bragging rights, all will go home winners in our minds since all of the food will go a long way to nourish hungry Central Texans.  The sculptures will be on display at the mall through Sunday, November 18.

This epic battle of architectural design raises more than 19,000 meals for the Food Bank, and we’ll need your help. Be part of CANstruction history by volunteering on CANstruction Build Day on Saturday, November 10 and deCANstruction day on Sunday November 18. Learn more and sign up online here.

As you start to make plans to go about town in the fall, please keep our events in mind.  They’re fun, family friendly ways to learn more about hunger and help your neighbors in need. Learn more by visiting austinfoodbank.org/events/ or joining our email list.
